Porsche Makes More Total Profit Than VW Brand.
Porsche Sals Expected To Breach 200,000 In 2015
Porsche will contribute more profits to Volkswagen this year than the VW brand itself, despite the latter selling more than 25 times the number of cars than the luxury sports car and SUV subsidiary.
According to a report from IHS Automotive, VW subsidiary Porsche deliveries have risen by just over 30 per cent in the first five months of the year to 93,000, thanks largely to the new Macan compact SUV. Porsche is well on the way to sell more than 200,000 vehicles in 2015, IHS Automotive said.
“Porsche will no doubt generate a significantly larger operating profit than last year’s €2.7 billion, which was already in excess of the €2.5 billion that the VW car brand generated despite the latter unit manufacturing more than 25 times the number of cars of Porsche,” IHS said in a report.
Porsche was first integrated into VW in 2011.
IHS Automotive forecasts that the Macan would be Porsche’s best seller this year with 78,000 sales, compared with 67,000 forecast for the bigger Cayenne SUV
Porsche sales in 2014 totalled 187,000. In 2014 Porsche generated profit of €14,500 per vehicle, compared with VW brand’s €540.
