Audi’s New A5 Sedan and S5 Sportback To Debut In Paris.
“Audi makes a big deal about the A5’s connectivity and driver assistance with adaptive cruise control, and traffic jam assist.
Audi will unveil its new A5 sedan and Audi S5 Sportback at the Paris Car Show later this month, and released the first pictures.
The A5, and the larger A7, represent a more adventurous styling adventure in Audi’s range. Its big selling models, like the A4 and A6, always reflect the company’s conservative desire to make each new car look barely different from the previous one, and never dare to cause offence. The A5, and the bigger A7, have used much more adventurous, wow factor styling.
In Europe the new second-generation range will include a range of gasoline and diesel engines with four-wheel drive options. Sharing the stage in Paris will be the flagship Audi S5 Sportback, which boasts a new V6 turbocharged gasoline engine delivering 340 hp. This will blast the car from rest to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds.
Audi makes a big deal about the A5’s connectivity and driver assistance with adaptive cruise control, and traffic jam assist. The latter relieves drivers in slow-moving traffic up to 40mph by assuming the tasks of braking and accelerating the car, and can also temporarily take charge of steering.
Collision avoidance assist intervenes if the car needs to drive around an obstacle to avoid an accident. Based on data from the front camera, and radar sensors, it computes a recommended driving line within a fraction of a second.
No word yet on when the A5 and A5 Sportback will go on sale in the U.S., what they will cost, or which engines will be available. Audi was also silent in whether hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric versions will be available.
