Patronising British Muslims (1)
Prince Charles’s speech in Egypt was typically misguided, and opaque. He had the audacity to criticise the Danes for daring to react to Muslim intimidation against free speech with some harmless cartoons. Then he talked, in a speech at Al-Azhar University (did you count the number of women in the audience?) about the need for greater understanding between Christians, Jews and Muslims, as though all three religions were exactly the same.
Charles urged Muslims, Christians and Jews to stop fighting one another.
“I believe with all my heart that responsible men and women must work to restore mutual respect between faiths, and that we should do all we can to overcome the distrust that poisons so many people’s lives,” Charles said.
Who writes this meaningless guff for Charles?
Doesn’t he know that Christians don’t threaten other religions with death if they defect? Or stone to death adulterettes? Didn’t anyone tell him about the Old Bailey Muslims planning dirty nuclear bombs, Bluewater supermarket atrocities and London night club outrages?
He said nothing about the civilisation-threatening attitude of radical Islam, and the need for Muslims to stop exploiting women, or insisting they reject their mindless and barbaric suicide bombing against whatever innocents are in their way. If this fool ever gets to be King (fingers crossed), will he dare to use the phrase “defender of the faiths” when he is sworn in?
If all Charles can do is mouth boring, gutless platitudes on these freebie tours, why doesn’t he just cut a few ribbons, glad a few hands and shut his mouth.
I bet ordinary British Muslims are as nauseated and embarrassed by Charles’ statements as I am.
Patronising British Muslims (2)
James Naughtie on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme this week interviewed a British Muslim leader (whose name escaped me) who we were told was part of the Muslim “Parliament”. Naughtie just ignored this outrageous claim. Our Parliament comprises members who are voted for by our nation’s citizens. It governs the nation. There is no Muslim “Parliament” in Britain, only the Westminster Parliament, which represents everybody, Muslims included. Why wouldn’t Naughtie challenge this? Why do some high profile British Muslims insist on organising their own “Parliament”. I bet this doesn’t have the support of regular Muslim citizens, who want to integrate into our society, and dump this counterproductive drive to retain the trappings of a medieval “culture”, which in the Middle East enslaves and impoverishes both materially and mentally.
Not Patronising Britain’s Muslims
Thank heaven for the House of Lords, the final appeal court, which overturned the cowardly and incomprehensible decision by the Court of Appeals to allow a Muslim girl to defy her school’s dress code. Why do Muslims think dress is so important? Why do some Muslims make a point of showing how different they are from us? Surely a few gestures from British Muslims in “authority” to show how much they appreciate being a part of our culture would not go amiss. Just how representative of ordinary Muslims are outfits like the British Council of Muslims? Again, I bet most Muslims living in this country were most uncomfortable about this case, and would be happy to dump medieval clothes which stigmatise women and join in with the rest of us. Incidentally, did you notice that a certain Cherie Blair, the princess of greed, was acting for the Muslims in this case? Cherie Blair, on the side of cultural apartheid. And of course, because of the important, public policy nature of the case, she would certainly have given back her £50,000 fee.
Salt “Poisoners”? You Cannot Be Serious
This week we had another Appeal Court case which showed just how bone-numbingly stupid our police and prosecutors can be, and how lacking in common sense is our legal system. We’ve had the case of Sion Jenkins, falsely convicted of the murder of his adopted daughter in Hastings, Sussex on evidence so flimsy, so obviously based on a stupid theory, and the need to get a conviction at all costs. No matter that this condemned an obviously innocent man to jail. Thankfully Jenkins has now been released. The case this week of Ian and Angela Gay, sentenced for murdering poor little Christian Blewitt by salt poisoning, was another ludicrous, obviously misguided prosecution, which was only successful because the prosecution managed to recruit “experts” to back up their absurd theory who seem to think regular people are basically evil, and capable of anything nasty. I bet they’re socialists. Let’s hope the Gays are freed and join the likes of Angela Canning and Sally Clark, falsely accused of murdering their babies on a ludicrous theory and now free, but similarly victims of bullying, dimwit policemen and prosecutors with sordid imaginations and zero judgement.
First Division Association A 3rd Rate Union
One of my pet hates is hearing football commentators on the BBC or Sky talking about the Championship and the 1st division etc, when they really mean Division 2 and Division 3. But a neat spin-off for me, which doesn’t quite make up entirely for my annoyance, is the union for the overpaid, graspers in the higher echelons of the Civil Service the First Division Association. I think I first heard about this outfit about 20 years ago and was struck by the arrogance of the name, and the uniform greed of their spokesmen. It’s great that we now automatically think of the 3rd division whenever the First Division Association takes to the airwaves.
Prius Wins Budget Prize Thanks to Stupid E.U. rules
One of the few beneficiaries of counter-productive Gordon Brown’s latest budget is the Toyota Prius, which because of its low rating for CO2 output is rated in the “B” band which will pay £35 a year, down from £40. I suppose I should congratulate anyone who extracts a profit from profligate socialists, but the only reason that the Prius is rated as a low emitter of CO2 is because of ridiculous E.U. testing rules. The E.U. rates all new cars’ economy by testing them in a laboratory, not on the road. So it produces perfectly comparable statistics about all cars, which have no relation to reality at all. Using this system, the Toyota gets a theoretical 65 mpg average, and the “B” band. On the road it really achieves an average of about 42 mpg and 172 g/km, about the same as my 3.0 litre BMW 3 litre diesel, and should in fairness pay the same, about £150 I think.
